Ministries of St Mary of the Visitation

Parish Administration

Parish CouncilList Item 1
- The Parish Council, with guidance of the pastor, is involved in the leadership of most activities and programs affecting the liturgical and spiritual life of the parish.
- The positions are for a 3 year term with monthly meetings held on the 3rd Tuesday, except in July and December.

Additional Administrative Ministries:List Item 3
- Finance Council:Advises the Pastor on financial matters of the parish and is responsible for monitoring all income and expenses, and approving the annual budgets. The committee meets monthly on the 2nd Monday, except in August and December.
- Offertory Money Counters:Two or more persons who count the funds collected at Masses each weekend. Each group volunteers for a few hours about one Sunday a month.
- Restoration Committee:Committee members are involved in projects and fundraising to promote the beauty and restoration of our church building. Regular meeting are held 3 times per year.
- Stewardship Committee:Committe members promote and assist with the annual signup of volunteers for church ministries.
- Seton Catholic School Board:Voluteers with interest in promoting and improving Catholic education. Each person commits to a 3 year term. The board meets monthly on the 4th Tuesday.
Liturgical Ministries

Eucharistic MinistersList Item 1
Must be a Catholic who is single or married in the church. Training will be provided.
- Weekend Eucharistic Ministers:Assist the priest with distibuting the Body and Blood of Christ during Masses.
- Sacristan:Duties include preparing the altar for Mass and cleaning the altar following Mass.
- Eucharistic Ministers to the Homebound:Take the Body and Blood of Christ to parishioners who are not able to attend Mass.

Liturgy MinistersList Item 3
- Lectors:Reader who proclaims the Scriptures at Mass and other services. Training is provided.
- Cantors:Lead the congregation in singing the Mass hymns and sing the responsorial psalm and acclamation verses. Will work with the organist.
- Altar Servers:Boys and girls from grade 3 and above (or adults) who assist the priest at the liturgy. Training is provided. Must have support/committment of parents.

Additional Liturgical VolunteersList Item 2
- Ushers:Help people to find seating, pass out special envelopes, collect the offertory and special monies, take the collection monies to altar and to office, assist with orderly procession to communion, hand out bulletins upon exit and other duties as needed.
- Gift Bearers:Take hosts and wine to the altar at offertory. Let ushers know you are willing or say "yes" when asked.
- Rosary Leaders:Lead the praying of the Rosary before masses in the months of May and October and other times as determined by the pastor.
- Liturgy Committee:Work with the pastor to plan and prepare for special liturgies including decorating of the church.
- Prayer Chain:Volunteer to be on an email list sent by the paster when prayers are requested for members of the parish or their family and friends.
Social and Service Ministries

Service Groups
- Ministry of Care:This group supports the homebound and nursing home residents as well as parishioners who are ill and/or in the hospital. Meetings are monthly on the 1st Tuesday.
- Family Service League:This group consists of all men and women of the parish. They are responsible for the purchase and care of altar items including the bread, wine, candles and altar linens as well as providing and serving food for funeral luncheons as needed. The group also coordinates the weekly Coffee & Donuts after the 8:30am Mass as well as the annual Holiday Cookie Sale.

Faith Formation and Evangelization

Adult Study GroupsList Item 1
- Meet with other parishioners to study scripture and/or read relevant books.
- Study programs or books and dates and time of meetings to be determined by each group.

Evangelization CommitteeList Item 3
- Work with the pastor to design and implement programs to share information about our Catholic faith.

Religious Education & Youth Group Volunteers

- Work with adults and older youth who are interested in joining the Catholic Church.
